    Hajj Amal

Last year Hajj Amal looked at the potentially explosive link between aid, trade and aids in Africa and brilliantly wove the threads together to show how things are not always quite what they seem. Although many aid programmes in themselves have deservedly had a bad press for extremely high administration costs, not reaching the target beneficiaries or encouraging a culture of dependence, this lecture aims to show that they do not necessarily have to be abandoned. There is a way to make aid work.
