    Rachael McLennan and Sarah Garland share a lecture as part of Black History Month: Moments in Black Auto/Biographies: Obama and Oprah.

    This lecture considers how Obama and Oprah use their own life stories to construct themselves as exemplary Americans. This involves an examination of some traditions of African American autobiography, American autobiography, and the significance of confession in contemporary American culture.

    Followed by Café Conversation:

    What makes an American life?

    The Café Conversation will take place in Café Bar Marzano in The Forum 15 minutes after the lecture ends. Tea and coffee will be provided.
