    A monologue bringing to life the inspiring story of Dr. Allan Glaisyer Minns, First Black Mayor of Thetford and Great Britain. Celebrating his life, achievements and the historical significance. The story begins with Rosette, his Grandmother, a former slave who heroically saved his Grandfather John from a sinking ship off New Providence. The renowned actor Michael Clark plays the part of Dr Minns providing a glimpse of life of a Black Mayor in Thetford’s Victorian era.

    Following the performance there will an opportunity for students to hot seat the characters, join in a debate exploring the presenting issues of that time and a workshop utilising the resources of the museum to find out more about his work and links to Thetford. There is also a Twilight Session by invitation.
